Business Process Module
Intended for Business analysts to business processes and
organizational structures modeling and for IT architects to IT
systems, applications and infrastructure modeling.
WinDesign Business Process enables the design of all the viewing
angles of the Information System and the analysis of each local or
transverse impact, at any level.
Information System mapping
Business process or IT
systems mapping cannot be simply reduced to an illustrative computer
graphics. To map does not mean "to photograph as it is", but
to model, to do an abstraction work,to see the overall picture in
order to restitute a symbolized visual representation.
WinDesign Business Process provides
capabilities for : business and organizational process, organizational
chart, fonctional process, applications and services, Technology and
infrastructure modeling and risk mapping.
Different viewing angles
For the same subject,
different mappings can be done according to the theme that one wants to
bring out. This variety of viewing angles is absolutly essential in the
Information System mapping. Each model offers a "reading grid"
of the observed topic.
For instance, in the applications mapping context, the viewing angle can
be either a dynamic mapping, showing the inter applications flows, or a
structural mapping of the application showing its components.
in the same way, a technical mapping can describe the hardware
geographic repartition by site, the hardware interconnections or the
contents of each server.
Degree of detail
Following the example of
geographic mappings, a small or large scale can be used. This scale
variation induces a variation on the detailed description and on the
covered scope.
For instance, for a business mapping, it will be possible to pass from
a global mapping (large scope and macroscopic vision) to the
operations chaining composing the procedure (limited scope and
detailed vision).
The hierarchical breakdown
mechanism of WinDesign Business Process enables for instance, to zoom in
(and to browse) successively from a macro-process, to the processes, the
procedures, the operations.
Impacts analysis
Thanks to its repository and
its modeling structure, WinDesign enables the association of different
mappings notions. For instance : applications used by a process, hardware
equipments of an org-unit, functions required by a procedure, and so on ...
These links enable the evaluation of any impact of a modeled item or
subset on the overall mappings in a direct way
or via the queries
system.
