Repository
improvement ...
In association with the
extended capacities of the meta model, the new repository takes
into account the types and stereotypes created by the user.
Repository
: new display options
4 new display options are
now available :

Model (file) display : for each model, list of the objects
displayed in
this model. For each object, list of the diagrams in which the object is
present.

Type of diagram display : for each type of diagram, list of the models
containing this type of diagram. For each model, list of the diagrams of
the same type. For each diagram, list of the objects displayed in this
diagram.

Diagram display : list of the models, list of the diagrams for each model,
list of the objects displayed in each diagram.

Type of object display : this presentation of the dictionary list is the
same as it was in the previous version : list of objects, models and
diagrams in which the object is displayed.

Package display : related to the Object module (when there
is no explicit definition of package and for the others modules, this
presentation is the same as the display by model). If packages have been
defined, they group all the objects defined in or used by it.
Repository
: display options of the objects types
Display options provide now
the ability to select the types of objects to display.
Click the
icon. The "Dictionary options" dialog is displayed.
The first tab "Display
options" provides the same options as in the previous version.
The "Object types"
tab enables to select the types of objects to display.
The selection can be done on
all the objects of a model type and on each object type.
Check your options.

Press OK to confirm. The
dictionary list is displayed according to the checked options.

Repository
: crossed references
New display of the crossed
references in the dictionary. As the object is selected in the list,
the icon splits up the
window in two parts and displays its crossed references in its lower
part.

The crossed references are
also displayed in the pop up box of the object.

Extension
of the meta-model capacities ...
New types of objects can
now be derived from a stereotype.
These new types inherite
the stereotype they are derived from and become "fully"
type, as well as the basic types of the previous versions (stereotypes
can then be defined for these new types that are managed in the
dictionary).
This new function is
available for every type of object, but is especially interesting for
the free objects.
For example :
Models of
technical architecture : derived from the free object, creation of
new types as : computers, communication, database, files, documents, ....
Organizational & Roles and competences management models
:
derived from the actor, creation of the following notions : persons,
group, team, role, ...
Derived from the free object, creation of : competences, ...
The creation of a new type
integrated in the profile management is very easy and provides many uses
of the meta model extension, for all the types of diagrams managed in Win'Design.
This capacity is also amplified
by ability to create its own types of diagrams in Win'Design
Business Process module.
Nota : The users of
the previous versions of Win'Design who did extensions of the meta
model from the stereotypes will only have to tick the appropriate box
to turn their stereotypes into types.
Access : "Stereotypes and extended characteristics"
dialog.

Creating
a new type
To create a new type,
select the "Standard profile" function in the "Options" menu.
Select the type of diagram in which the new type will be created, or
"Common objects", and press the "Meta model ..."
button.
The "Stereotypes and
extended characteristics" dialog is displayed.
Select a type of object in
the left-hand list, and create a new stereotype (or select a
stereotype).
In the right-hand part of
the dialog, tick the "Meta object" box.
The stereotype became a type. It inherites all the characteristics of
the stereotype it is derived from.
By default, the icon
associated with the stereotype is proposed to be displayed in the
dictionary list. A specific icon that will be displayed in front of
the name of the object in the dictionary list can be associated to
this new type (press the "Change ..." button, and then
select the icon to be displayed).

New
queries system ...
The new queries system
replaces the previous one.
This new system is turned to
the user and works through a browse of the meta model.
A friendly wizard helps to define queries gradually, from the easiest to
the more complicated ones.
Creating a new query
To create a new query, use
the pop up menu or select the "New query" function or click
the "New" icon in the tools bar.

The wizard displays the
"Win'Design meta model" dialog.
This dialog displays the
list of all the types of models managed in Win'Design and the list of
all the objects sorted by model type.
Selecting a type of
object that will be the root of the query
Select the model type on
which the query will be applied, and then the object to insert in the
query. For instance : CDM, Entity. Press OK to valid.
The dialog displays in the
right-hand list the query tree.

Nota : stereotypes
can be directly selected, without creating a restrictive criterion.
Defining a criterion
On each node ot the query
(entity), one or more creterion can be applied to screen the
occurrences of the object type.
Select in the tree, the
object on which the criterion will be applied, and then click on
in the right hand part of the dialog.

The "Criterion wizard"
is displayed.
In the first list, select
the characteristic on which the criterion will be applied, and then the
operator.
Then specify the term :
-
Characteristic : either
another characteristic of the same type of object or a
characteristic belonging to a type of object defined at a upper
level of the query.
-
Parameter : this value
will be asked at each query execution.
-
Value : keying of a
value or choice of a value in a list if the type of object has a
closed list of values.
Possibly enter a
descriptive comment.

If several criteria have
been defined for the same type of object, a logical expression can be
created with the combination of these criteria.
By default, the operator
"or" will be used.
Displaying
characteristics in the query result
Besides the query results
tree displaying the name of the objects, the characteristics of each
object can also be displayed in a board.
These characteristics are
chosen in the "Display" tab.

Unfold the nodes to display
the name of the object characteristics and then double click on the line
of the characteristic to be displayed. All the characteristics checked
to be displayed are presented in the upper part of the list.
Displaying the query
results
After the query execution,
the results are displayed in a hierarchical tree. The characteristics of
the object are displayed in the right part of the dialog, according to
the display options.

Export of the query
results
Click on to
export the query results as a CSV or XML file.

Graphic
options ...
New function : style
variation
As an object is created or modified,
a new function provides the ability
to pick up in a specific palette different styles and forms variations,
pre-defined in the profile for this type of object.
In the previous version,
graphic options could be defined only on criteria. In Version 6.5,
they can be defined with a criteria or not.
Example :
For the technical
architecture modeling, the object type "Ordinateur" (Cf.
meta model extension) has been defined in the profile, derived from
the free object.
Stereotypes have been associated to this object type : workstation,
server, mainframe, ...
Each stereotype has its own graphic representation.

For instance :
representation of the workstation :
To create a
workstation, select in the specific palette the corresponding
icon.

According to the options
specified in the profile and matching with the palette, the
"Style variation" dialog displays and provides the user a
choice of different graphic representation.

To modifiy an object
: Select the object in the model and select the "Format -
Style variation" function in the pop up menu of the object or in
the "Format" Menu.
From the "Style
variation" dialog, it is also possible to modify a stereotype or a
type (inside the generic original type of the object (In this example
: the free object), by selection in the pulling list.

Patch
6.51 : The new options available in the intranet documentation
New otpions have been integrated for the intranet documentation
generation.
1 - Adjustment of the diagrams pictures
size

A new option available in the "Divers" tab of the "Intranet
documentation" dialog provides the ability to define the displaying of the
diagrams pictures by default.
The "Adjusted Width size" will take into account the display precision
of the screen, in order to alter the size of the diagrams pictures to fit its
width.

Check the "Adjusted width size" option, and then
specify in pixels, the size that can be used for the picture displaying.

For instance : if the display precision of the screen is 800x600, 600
expresses the width size in pixels. Enter a value that is less than the width
maximal pixels number (by example : 500 ), to take into account the other
displayed elements.
If the width of the diagram picture is more than the width
defined for the displaying and if the "Adjusted width size" option is
checked, an icon is displayed in the upper left corner and in the lower right
corner of the diagram picture providing the ability to enlarge (actual size) the
diagram picture, and then to reduce it (width adjustment).
2 - Adding a diaporama for the models
and the diagrams groups
A second option, also available in the "Divers" tab of
the "Intranet documentation" dialog, provides the ability to add a
diaporama for the models and the diagrams groups.

For instance : the "Approche par les flux" model is
composed of 4 diagrams.

A clic on the model name displays its diaporama in the right
part of the window.

3 - Displaying
the diagrams as miniatures
In the descriptive forms of the objects, the diagrams containing
these objects are now displayed as miniatures.
Nota : Those miniatures are active. A clic on the
miniature displays the diagram picture.
The size of these miniatures is specified in the "Intranet
documentation" dialog, in the "Divers" tab.

Example : descriptive form of the "CLI" table
that is contained in 3 diagrams
