Improvements
of the intranet documentation
1 -
Displaying the
diagrams as miniatures
a) In the
hierarchical tree of the workspace
As the cursor is placed on the
name of the model in the tree,
the diagram is displayed as a miniature.

Click on the name of the model
to display its image in the right part of the window.
To view the descriptive
sheet of the object, click on
its representation in the diagram.
b) In the
descriptive sheet of the object
All the diagrams in which the object is
present are displayed In the descrprive sheet of the object.

Example for
the entity "Expert". Click on a diagram to display its
representation in the right part of the window.
2 -
New presentation
of the descriptive sheet of the objects
The characteristics
of the objects in the descriptive sheets are now presented by tabs.
The
"All"
tab allows to display all the characteristics of the object in a
single page
(same presentation as in the previous version).
Definition tab
:
this tab displays the descriptive characteristics of the object.

Detail tab :
presentation
of the contents of the object
(ex:
properties for the entity,
tables, storages,
keys, attributes,...
for the
tables, ...).

Diagrams
tab :
displays the diagrams in which the
object is present.
Crossed references tab
: this tab displays the linked objects.

Administration
tab :
displays the date of creation and
last modification of the object and the name of its author.
All tab
:
displays all the characteritics of the objects.
3 -
Bubbles on the objects
As the image of a
diagram is displayed, and as the cursor is placed on the object, a
bubble is displayed containing the description of the object (this
description has been keyed in the pop up dialog of the object -
"definition" tab).

4 -
Active links in the
bubbles
When the cursor is
placed on the "associated files" symbol
and if files are associated to the object,
a bubble is displayed showing active links with the attached
files.

The
cursor placed on the post it or note pad icon displays the text in the
bubble.

Nota
: to
choose the presentation of the descriptive sheets with tabs, you have
to select the option in the intranet documentation dialog.
Possibly select the tabs you want to generate or not (Detail, crossed
references, administration, diagrams, ...).

Another option
makes it possible to insert a tab showing the associated files of the object.

- Publication of
the results of the queries in the intranet documentation
The results of the
queries can be inserted in the intranet site.
First
execute the query and then export its result in a HTM file.

This
file must be saved in the folder of the intranet documentation.

Select
the option to update the intranet documentation. Click on
"Finish" to execute the generation.

The
intranet documentation dialog is displayed.

The "Query" node is
inserted in the tree. Click on the name of the query of which you want to view
the results.

Nota :
to
display the results of the queries in the intranet documentation, you
have to select the corresponding option in the "Intranet
documentation" dialog ("Options" tab).

Generating a
minimal intranet documentation
The " Diagrams
only " option available in the "Options" tab of the
"Intranet documentation" dialog enables to execute a generation of
a miniaml intranet site, displaying only the diagrames and
their links. The descriptive sheets of the objects are not generated.

Nevertheless,
the bubbles are available on the objects to display their description
as the cursor is placed on the symbol.

Complete
revision of the consolidation function
This new function makes it possible
to select a pre-defined template or to create a personal library of
templates.
1 - Creating
a new diagram from a template
Click on
or select "New"
function in the "File" menu.
The "New
diagram"
dialog is displayed.
Select the module to display the types of diagrams.
As the type of diagram is
selected, the image of the default template is displayed.
Click Ok to use this template, or
click on the "Choose template" button to select another one.

Select the miniature of one of the
templates and click Ok to confirm.
The pre-defined templates can be
modified. New templates can be created.
The "Change type" button
switch to the previous dialog.

Select the option
to display
the selected template as a miniature in the "New diagram" dialog.

- Creating
a new template from a diagram
A new
template
can be created from a diagram.
Select a diagram in the
workspace tree and select the "Create template ..." function in
the "File" menu.
The "Save template"
dialog displays the list of all the objects contained in the selected
diagram.
Name the template and save it.
Possibly select the "Use this
template by default"
option.

Queries

1 - Publication
of the queries

2 - Modification
of values in the
queries results ...
Values can be directly modified in the results of the queries,
allowing an updating unitary or in series.
Some of the values cannot be edited.
In the table displaying the results of the query, edit the value to
modify with a double click (or right click and selection of the
function in the pop up menu).

A dialog is displayed. This
dialog will be different according to the type of value to modify. Enter
your modification and click Ok to confirm.
The value of the object is modified.
To effect a
modification in series, confirm your modification, then select the
column again and select the "Propagate value to all" function.

The new value is
affected to all the objects of the selected column.

3 - Executing a group of
queries
This new function
make it possible to create groups of queries and to execute queries in
series.
3.1
- Creating
a group
In the Queries tab,
click on . The
"Queries' groups execution" dialog is displayed.
Click on the first icon to create a group, and on the second one to
specify its contents.
Use the icon
to edit a group or a query, to modify a name or to change the
parameters of the query.
: delete the selection
Use the arrows
(top, bottom, left, right) to move the selection in the list or to
insert the selection in a group.

Select the
queries that will constitute the group in the "Query
selection" dialog.
Click Ok to confirm. |
Click on
to execute the group.

The results of all
the queries of the group are displayed.

- Drag & drop of the querie results ...
This function make
it possible to copy objects contained in the querie results and to
paste them in the current diagram by drag & drop.
The selection of
the objects can be done in both lists of the dialog .
The selection of a
node in the left list will copy all the objects included in the
node.
Shortcuts to the
source objects can be automatically created on option.
The option
"Keep this choice" will apply the same choice on all the
objects contained in the node, avoiding to specify this choice for
each object.

Versionning

1 - Diagrams
filing
This new function
enables to archive different versions of a diagram, to view the log of
the versions and to compare the different files.
1.1
- Logging a diagram
To log a diagram,
select this diagram in the workspace and then select the
"Archiving - Diagram archive" function in the "File
menu" .

If some files have
been previously created for this diagram, the "Create an
archive" dialog is displayed.
If there was no previous archive for this diagram, the following
message is displayed :

And then the
followind dialog :

Allowing to select
the folder in which the archive will be saved, the temporary folder
and the compression rate to apply on the file.
Click on OK to
confirm. The "Create an archive" dialog is displayed.
Enter the number of
the version and possibly a textual commentary. The archive date and
time are indicated.

Click on the
"Create" button to confirm.
1.2
- View the log file

In the
"File" menu, select the "Archives - View the log
file" function to display the list of all the archives of the
selected diagram.

Select one of the
icons at the top of the dialog to :
- Generate a
comparison report
- Display the differences (the dialog displays all the modified
objects)
- Open an archive
- Delete a file

- Opening an archive

Select one or more
versions of archives in the "Log files" dialog, and click on
the 3rd icon.
A dialog enables
you to select the folder in which the archive will be extracted, and
then a message is displayed to ask if you want to open the archive in
Win'Design.

If yes, the
diagram will be displayed in the current workspace.

The consolidation function has been
revised to be more user friendly and to propose the following functions

(propagation of the values in all the diagrams)
Nota : The objects comparison is not possible for the shortcuts,
which do not have any difference with their source.

Consolidating models
To consolidate two models or more, click on 
The "Models consolidation" dialog is
displayed, containing the list of all the models of the current
workspace, ordered by type.

Select the type of model to consolidate. The list will
change according to your choice.Select then the models and click Ok to
confirm.
The "Files comparison" dialog is displayed.

Columns name : the bubble
display the whole path of the file
Red colour : means a difference of content.
Bold characters : shows the file in which the
last modification of the object has been done
Black colour : means that the objects have no
difference
Green colour : means that the objects are partially
present
Grey colour : means that the objects are shortcuts
and therefore cannot be consolidated
Display
filters :
The first list concerns the
presence or absence of an object :
- Objects present everywhere (in all the models)
- Objects partially present (in some models only)
- All the objects
The second pulling list
concerns the content of the object :
- Identical - Different - All
The check "Display date and
time of modification" changes the format of the date of
modification of the object : 24/10/2006 or 24/10/2006 14:50
1.3 Harmonizing definitions
1.3.1
: With no intervention on each characteristic
If
the objects have different values of characteristics, the
harmonization will be done on the last modified value (date and time
of last modification).
If
one does not want to select the value for each characteristic, a
global harmonization can be launched :
Select
the elements and then click on
to activate the function.
1.3.2
: With intervention on each caractéristic
If
the harmonization concerns only one object or
if the criterion of last
date of modification is not enough to launch the harmonization, one can
intervene at the detail level of each characteristic.
Select
the object and click on
or double click on the name of the object to display the dialog of its
characteristics.
1.4
: Description of the "Harmonization" dialog
This dialog displays all
the characteristics of the object (global, specifis, extented characteristics,
etc.), as they are presented in the meta model.
On option, one can
displayed all the characteristics or only characterics having
differences.

The 1st column
displays the name of the characteristic.
The second column displays the default value selected for the
objects harmonization (date criterion).
This column is the only one that can be edited. It displays the list of
values of all the files.
A new characteristic can be created.

: Colour code used in the "Harmonization" dialog
Red color : means
that the characteristics are different
Bold characters : indicates the most recent value
Black color : means the values of characteristics are the same
